About the Farm
We are a small farm in Floyd, VA growing certified organic produce on 14 acres for CSA, farmers market and wholesale in the New River Valley. They are a member of the Virginia Association for Biological Farmers.
About the Practices
Riverstone Organic Farm energizes with diversity by applying compost to their fields and rotating cover crops. By rotating crops they are promoting the even usage of nutrients and nutrient replenishment. Compost adds nutrients and biological activity to the soil. They keep the soil covered and maximize living roots by utilizing cover crops. They minimize disturbance by allowing their soils to be in fallow and undisturbed for longer periods of time.
